All of FOVE's standard features, such as gaze estimation, are available in all versions of FOVE software, with or without any license. However, for some advanced features like torsion, a Pro or Enterprise license can be purchased.
Since v1.0 of the FOVE VR Platform, licenses can be entered in either via the FOVE Tray GUI, or via the command line tool.
Activating via the FOVE Tray
The FOVE Tray application (which shoes up as just "FOVE VR" in your start menu) shows up in the Windows system tray on the bottom left of the screen.
You can get to the right click menu by either right clicking on the tray icon, or right clicking on the small GUI window which itself pops up when you double click the tray icon.
From there you can go to activate -> enter a license key.
If there is a problem with your key, you will receive an error. Please double check that you copy pasted it correctly. Otherwise your license is activated. You can click on it again from the right click menu to see the details.
Only one license is active at a time for each computer.6
Activating via the command line
Entering a license via the command line allows you more easily script your FOVE deployment, for example if you need to install many licenses on many computers. It is also the only way to activate a license on Linux, since the Tray App is Windows only.
You simply need to use the following command on Linux:
/usr/bin/fove-cli license register "Copy Paste Your License Here"
On Windows the executable is in CamelCase, and located in your Program Files folder:
"C:\Program Files\FOVE\FoveCLI.exe" license register "Copy Paste Your License Here"
You can also use the "license info" command for more info, and the "help license" command to see more.
Updating to a new license
Only one license is valid at a given time.
You can change licenses (for example if you upgraded Pro to Enterprise), by simply entering the new license key through any of the above methods. It will replace the existing license information.
