I have a unity scene with a 'FOVE Interface 2' camera. The target display = 1 & Target Eye = both eyes. i.e. output of this should be displayed on the FOVE HMD.
In the same scene I have another camera which looks at some GUI controls. The target display = 2 & Target Eye = None (Main display). i.e. camera should output to my desktop monitor.
Ultimately I want to control what the FOVE HMD user is seeing using the GUI control panel shown on the desktop computer.
My problem is that I can only get one display to work at a time. I can get both HMD and monitor to show the FOVE camera. I can also get the monitor to show the normal camera - but when it does this, the HMD just shows the star field.
The only error I get in the FOVE log is 'HID read error : Unknown exception'
I have activated both displays - I can get two normal cameras to work on two normal monitors.
I am running this test from a built executable - I have tried running it from a shortcut that includes the "-multidisplay" command line switch.
I have tried flipping the target display used for each camera. Again no luck. The FOVE camera seems to only like outputting to display 1.
I am using windows 10 and GTX 1050.
Is this use case even possible?
My backup plan is to control the unity app using some sort of inter process communication. But I want to avoid that as it adds complexity.
