Setup, What's the expected behaviour?

    Hi,

The installer itself should have started the runtime, the fact that you had to press a button to do that sounds like a bug.

Once you have pressed the "Start Runtime" from the config tool, the image previews won't update until you collapse and expand each of their sections again. This is a known issue.

Once you confirm that the tracking feeds are working, you should be able to look at the green dot (for about 2 seconds) and it'll start to move. Following that dot with your eyes performs a calibration. Once calibration is complete, the grey screen should disappear and the starfield should be visible. Now launching any compatible content should display in the headset as expected.

I think starting Fove VR from the start menu launches the tray icon (which has options for starting the runtime and gives you basic status information).

Please let me know if you can get eye data working.

    Thanks Maz,

I got it working just before you replied. After playing around a bit I got an error when starting/stopping the compositor from the config window. I got an error like "Error stopping ...compositor... service". For some reason i closed the config window and started the runtime from the rclick menu. That started the calibration properly and eventually gave me the starfield. At that point it was fine to open the config window again and I can se the eye and pos feeds properly.

Somewhere along the lines I also set the "fove vr" to run as administrator but haven't confirmed that it had any effect in solving the prob.

Not at the computer now so can't check the repeatability of this issue until maybe tomorrow. Will do and then report back.

    Hi,

Thanks for letting me know you got it working. I have an idea what might be causing the problem. Let us know what you find.

    Here's an update.

First of all I must run "FoveTray.exe" as admin. Nothing surprising there, just windows (or maybe just my windows).

Right+clicking and choosing "start runtime" and "stop runtime" seems to work fine. I've tested over and over again no issues.

But in the "Fove Config Tool" if I do "start runtime" and "stop runtime" repeatedly, every now and then the compositor isn't stopped. I have to press "stop compositor" and then it kicks in and starts working. The error seems to be random but I got a long streak once while putting the glasses on and off which confused me a bit.

Also every now and then the trayicon crashes (it disappears on mouse over).

Apart from that it seems to be working fine. I'm looking forward to doing some proper testing :)

I have an issue where I can start the compositor just fine but I'm unable to calibrate it. When I choose restart calibration the compositor stops working and shuts down. I also have yet to see this green dot many others seem to be referring to.

    Hi Alexander,

I saw and replied to a ticket that you created in our support center a while ago. Since then I haven't heard from you again. If the issue you described above relates to something else, could you please create another ticket?

    Kind regards,

    Remco
