We are already some people with exactly the same issue mentioned in other posts, I hope we'll get a solution soon. For now try to see if you installed the SteamVR driver for FOVE correctly. The other thing we got was to turn the FOVE compositor auto-start off, but as you said in your post you already did that. For now that's the only thing we have, but don't feel alone, we're a lot of people with that exact issue (Me).

Thanks, good to hear I'm not alone. I've uninstalled steamvr and reinstalled it twice via steam. Not sure how else o make sure it's properly installed. Thanks for writing.

After clearing up some Win7 issues - many thanks @Maz - I am at the same point now, too.

edit: This seems to be related to the compositor not finding the hdmi display. In my case I just forgot to plug it into the graphics card. Others have discovered that it will not work if the hdmi interface does not support 2560*1440.

I was able to replicate this issue to some extent on AMD. I had same PC with same exact hardware and software, and ended up with 1 build having this issue while the other did not. The issue was the AMD drivers. For some the latest Feb drivers do not work and run into the 307 compositor issue. I downgraded the drivers to version 16.300 and it worked.

So my suggestion for those still having these issues, try older version of drivers and see if that helps.

Right now I have my AMD Radeon(TM) R9 270 and I have the 15.301.1701.0 version of the driver. Everything was working fine until I tried SteamVR. (the demos from FOVE were working perfectly)

I just noticed though, my FOVE drivers (Not the one for SteamVR) was installed in my SSD while Steam is on my (D:) disk so I'll try reinstalling the FOVE drivers in the (D:) disk and see if that changes anything.

Just to keep this updated, I tried it again with the new version of the driver and everything worked now. Don't know if it's because of the driver or if it's plain luck but it works!
