Ok, i solved my problem by changing the folder name where the sample is stored (from FoveCppSample-master to FoveCppSample )

I met the same error descrived first (runtime_error.) The reason of the problem in my case is mismatching software versions between FoveVR (server) and FoveDataExample.

Compiled and executed the program, then the console printed as follws:

Unknown error: getframesynclocation missing string data
    Error #9000

So, after installing the same version of server software, the sample program works fine.

The error Stefano had (`boost::filesystem::filesystem_error`) is a filesystem issue of some sort. I tried running the data example from a folder called FoveCppSample-master (which is the default name when you download from github as a zip), and it's working on my machine. So I believe this is fixed in the current version (0.16.0).

`Unknown error: getframesynclocation missing string data` is an error regarding a version mismatch between the client and the runtime. The runtime is backwards compatible with old clients, but not forwards compatible. So the client cannot be newer. Since the C++ example is updated with each SDK version, it's generally using the latest client and thus you need the latest runtime.

I'll have the team look into making a clearer error message here.
