    Hey John,

     

    If you're making a heat-map kinda thing then your proposed suggestion is probably the easiest. (Unity data collector + Trig)

    Ray-casting is great but it will be difficult to make it performant.

    How much of a margin of error are you willing to accept?

    Really sorry for necro-ing but in case it helps someone: the Unity function Camera.WorldToScreenPoint() does just that; you can get the point by getting the eye ray and then using Ray.GetPoint().
